Nbc Conducts an Investigation into the Illicit Online Trade of Rf Jammers
NBC News has reported that online retailers and companies specializing in drone technology are promoting RF jammers as tools for deterring drones or enhancing privacy, thereby bypassing regulations that restrict the sale of these devices within the United States.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a warning indicating that signal jamming devices have the potential to obstruct emergency calls, thereby presenting a significant threat to public safety communications. Additionally, these devices can disrupt various forms of routine communication and air navigation systems.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has stated that the use of devices such as phone jammer, GPS blocker, or any other signal jamming equipment that is intended to obstruct, disrupt, or interfere with authorized radio communications constitutes a violation of federal law. This prohibition applies to all environments, including businesses, classrooms, residences, and vehicles. Furthermore, local law enforcement agencies are not permitted to utilize jamming devices on their own; however, federal law enforcement agencies may employ them in accordance with relevant regulations under specific limited circumstances.

The warning issued by the FCC clearly indicates that it is unlawful to advertise, sell, distribute, import, or otherwise promote jamming devices to consumers within the United States.

NBC has reported that third-party sellers on Amazon, independent online retailers from China, and small domestic firms specializing in drone-related equipment are disregarding the law. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) informed NBC that it is currently investigating the sale of jammers, including those available on Amazon.

In the course of its investigation, NBC News interviewed the CEO of a United States-based company that sells portable anti-drone radio frequency jammers through online platforms. The CEO informed NBC News that these devices are readily accessible to consumers with sufficient financial resources; however, the primary interest is being shown by large corporations and government entities in anticipation of potential domestic drone-related threats.
